They finally took off the pressure 'stockings' Mom had on....they were machine controlled funky leg warmers that pumped air into chambers to help circulate the blood in her legs. And they had her sitting up at the side of her bed today. I guess it went well. Al was talking to her earlier and he seemed very relieved when he called me to relay the conversation. Mom had asked for the tv to be hooked up when Eric and I were up yesterday - but I guess her attempt to watch the Y&R was interrupted numerous times by the nurses doing their jobs LOL! I understand she is getting a little crabby with them - does that mean she is starting to heal ;-)?
We made up it before the storm really hit yesterday, knowing that no one would be able to get up there today. She looked good, in my estimation. Tired...sore...not-so-secretly delighted with her morphine pump....but better than I have seen her look in ages. Her doctor had been in and he is still aiming to release her at the end of this week. She isn't as confident as he is but both Al and I hope that her sitting up today will help her realize the dr's goal may not be as unrealistic as she thinks.
I know some people have been e-mailing on a fairly regular basis - thank you! I have tried to respond but the e-mail address comes back as unknown/undeliverable. I just wanted to pass on that I have been getting the messages and sending them on to Mom. She had 10 e-mails I printed out for her yesterday and even more names of folks who have called Al or myself to enquire about her. She was looking forward to reading the messages and plans to contact everyone she can when she gets home!
Watching the weather and hoping to make it up tomorrow. I'll let you know :-)
