Mom came thru her surgery very well.
I did go up to Kingston to be with Al (more accurately, Morgan and I went). The surgery took about 3.5 hours and the oncologist came to see us. He is very confident in her recovery and is confident that he got all visible parts of the cancer. He took everything (definitely means no baby brother for me) including two lymph nodes around her aorta that were suspicious. They were able to resectino the bowel so she does NOT have a colostomy. As well, before she went in, she had been told she would most likely wake up in the ICU with tubes down her throat and nose. Things went well enough that she was to be returned to her room later this afternoon and does not have any tubes in her other than her regular iv lines. She does, however, have an epidural instead of a morphine pump, which I think will be the best for her.
Given things go as well as the dr anticipates, she should be able to come home in about a week :-)
Thanks for all the e-mails, calls and prayers. Obviously, something worked.
