thought I should do some updating.
Mom is holding her own. I can't say there has been a huge improvement - her colour is better but she is still so tired and weak. She has had multiple scans, x-rays, blood work....you name it, she has had it. She isn't out of bed much - just potty runs - and has accumulated some fluid on her abdomen. It was discovered at the end of the week that she was anemic and had two transfusions. She says she feels a little better....but still has trouble staying awake for long. I guess the only good thing is that she sleeps a lot and has lost track of time so it is all relative to her....I think the time frame is much worse for us, then her.
As well, Al got some sad news on Monday night. His youngest sister, Christine, died suddenly in Sarnia. His daughter Kathie met us in Kingston on Wednesday and whisked him up to London and Sarnia for Chris' wake and funeral. It's been a very rough week for him. His other daughter Deb and his grand-daughter, Erin, drove him back to Kingston today and we all had a visit with Mom before Brooke and I brought Al home. He is so tired....
While Al was gone, I took many, many, many calls from concerned family and friends in his stead. In fact, I was somewhat overwhelmed! It is wonderful to know so many people are thinking of her and making such efforts to keep in touch. Innumerable thanks to Karen and Jeff for helping me out - while I appreciate hearing from everyone, sometimes it isn't possible for me to return all calls or e-mails and K & J have been wonderful at helping me out.
Okay....time for a wind down and a beer - in Mom's honour, of course ;-)
