She's Home!

I took Brooke up to see Mom today, thinking that Al had called and he was told that there were no orders for her to be released today. We got there...spent about a half hour with her...her surgeon came in and asked if she wanted to go home. "Absolutely!" was her immediate reply. "When?" she asked. He paused...thought..."How about right now?" Who knew a lady so sick could move so fast LOL!

She had a bit of an issue with her lunch before we left (make of that what you will) but Brooke and I got her home in the little Cavalier and she was sitting in her garage, enjoying the fresh air, by 3:30 this afternoon.

She still has weight to gain and needs some time to get her feet under her solidly. She is being 'good'....we are getting her a bath chair, she has a new rubber-backed bath mat and she is using a cane to steady her....but she is walking, talking and had a bowl of ice cream tonight.

I can't help but smile as I type this. It's been a long week...a scary week...one of little sleep and lots of stress....and we have a long way to go....but - WOW! - I am so glad she is home :-)

Special thanks to Karen and Jeff for taking such great care of my little monster today. She fell asleep before we hit King Street and was out solid for two hours LOL!

Best wishes to all!
