Yesterday, I took Mom to have a check of some wigs at EnviroTrends. She ordered one. I am not allowed to tell more than that LOL!
She felt well enough to have her attention caught by a colourful (and most definitely "her") sweater at Northern so she treated herself. Then stopped and purchased a cute pair of running shoes at Payless. We were only out about an hour - but what a nice day :-). It's the first she has been anywhere in ages...perhaps taking her to the germ-filled Mall was not our smartest choice...and it was wonderful to see her smile and interact with people who where there to help her spend her money - and not to poke her with needles and do bloodwork. I think it was the therapy she deserved.
Today, she had a visit from the ACCESS Centre Case Manager. She will be getting a nurse in at least once a week to check her vital stats (her blood pressure is up a bit) and might be able to have someone in to help with the floors and some other cleaning. Friday, she heads to Kingston for her Pulmonary testing - though how they figure a 71 yr old woman who can't stand for more than 10 minutes at a time is going to run the treadmill, I don't know. Her next chemo is scheduled for the 25th. She knows what to expect - but isn't taking anyone on their word that this time will be easier, after.
Some of her symptoms of the bowel obstruction are back...her discomfort level is a bit higher...and I am a little worried...but I guess some paranoia is to be expected. I am just keeping an eye on her.
Give your loved ones a hug and cherish the times...good and bad.
Best wishes.
